Customer Avatar – Finding your target customer

Hey there, I’m Sravya here!!!

There was a person(James) who sells his services or products to people, but he couldn’t make many sales with his services😢 even though his services are good.

What do you think, why can’t he make more sales? (Don’t skip, you will know the reason soon)

There is another person(William) whose services are similar to James but, he makes more sales than James.

After a few days, James observed things carefully and finally, now he is making more sales.

Now you may be thinking🤔: “What are the changes made?“.

He understood his customer’s psychology

He found his right customers and he is happy now😊.

That is you can’t force everyone to buy your product or service. First, you need to find your correct/target customers who actually need your services/products.

Let’s accept it: ” not every customer is right for your business. Your message can resonate really well with some types of people, but not with all of them.” – Caelan Huntress

Assume that you want to sell a chalk piece to the lecturer, but still he is not ready to buy your chalk, that indicates he explains on whiteboard even though sometimes your customer qualities are the same, but the need of the customer may not be the same.

“If you think everyone are your customers, then no one are your customers” – Deepak kanakaraju

To make more sales and reach a bigger audience, the most effective thing you can learn is how to make a Customer Avatar.

A Customer Avatar allows you to identify the specific characteristics of people who will like to buy what you’re selling.

How to create your own Customer Avatar?

Follow these simple steps to find your customer:

Step1: Find a template or create one.

Finding a customer avatar template online or just create your own customer avatar template with required details/questions.

If you search online you will like at least one template that matches your business requirements.

It looks something like this:

With some blank spaces for you to define your customer characteristics (that are filled by customers in your questionnaire form(Step 2)).

Some online sources for templates are:

Step 2: Preparing a Questionnaire

You can ask several questions to build your customer avatar but ask only the required information for your business.

But basic questions that are common in every category are:

  1. Demography: It basically consists of details of customers like age, gender, location, etc,…
  2. Psychographics: It consists of details like hobbies, interests, what kind of person, etc,…

After creating a form, make it fill by each people in this way you will get the required details.
